LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was seriously injured Saturday night when he was hit by a vehicle in Grand Island.

The crash happened on Highway 281, just south of the Union Pacific Railroad overpass.

Police said an SUV reached the top of the overpass and hit a pedestrian, who was standing in the left lane.

Investigators are unsure why the pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was walking in the middle of the lane.

First responders took the man to CHI Health St. Francis with life-threatening injuries.

No citations have been issued in the crash, and an investigation is underway.
