Officials said video from local businesses and witnesses showed a large fight near 11th and P Streets in the early morning of Sept. 8.

Wright, Bahati and Hopkins were standing in the area but not involved in the fight, according to LPD.

Eventually, Bahati got “minorly involved” in the fight for a short time, LPD said.

He stepped away from the fight but pointed to where Wright and Hopkins were standing and yelled “shoot him,” according to LPD.

Officials said Wright pulled out a handgun and shot Hopkins twice before fleeing to a black Honda Pilot a few blocks away.

Police said they are unsure why Hopkins was shot, and are still trying to get answers on if the three had any previous connection.

Wright and Bahati are connected to gangs in Omaha, according to police, but investigators are still trying to figure out if the shooting was gang related.

Wright is charged with first-degree murder and Bahati is charged with aiding and abetting in first-degree murder.
