Kearney shooting sends man to hospital with serious injuries

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Kearney Police Department is investigating a shooting on Sunday that sent one victim to the hospital with serious injuries.
Just after 2 p.m., officers responded to a small home near West 19th Street and Seventh Avenue.
Police said officers immediately found the suspect outside of the home and took her into custody. The suspect was identified as 56-year-old Karen Geisler.
The victim was found inside the house and officers provided emergency first aid until the scene was safe for paramedics to enter the house, according to KPD.
Officials said the 62-year-old male was taken to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Geisler was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony. She was lodged at Buffalo County Jail.
KPD said the shooting has been determined to be an isolated incident, but the motive behind the shooting is under investigation.
