Waverly rallies in second half against Lincoln Pius X to secure home playoff game

WAVERLY, Neb. (KLKN) – Waverly won 31-27 on Friday night in an electric 14-point comeback.

Lincoln Pius X came out swinging, going up 14-0 in the first quarter.

Waverly responded with a touchdown in the second quarter, but that didn’t last long.

Shortly before half, Pius killed Waverly’s momentum with a 60-yard passing touchdown to Sam Reif, heading into halftime 21-7.

But Waverly rallied and fought till the bitter end.

The Vikings slowly mounted a comeback, forcing turnovers and fourth downs.

They took the lead in the final minutes of the game.

The crowd erupted as Waverly gatekept Pius from the Class B playoffs and secured a home game for the first round.
