Volleyball roundup: Lincoln North Star state bound, York takes down rival Seward

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – It was a full slate of postseason high school volleyball Wednesday night, with many Lincoln-area teams getting statement wins.

Lincoln North Star is making its way back to the state tournament for the first time in 10 years under first year head coach Jeremiah Kroll.

The Navigators traveled out to Grand Island and dominated the Islanders from start to finish, sweeping them 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 in the District A-6 final.

Lincoln Southwest also took down Omaha Marian 25-21, 14-25, 26-24, 25-22 in the District A-4 final to punch its ticket to the state tournament.

York took on Seward in the B-6 Sub-district finals for a chance to advance in the postseason.

The Blue Jays came out firing, taking the first set 25-20.

But the Dukes were able to respond in a big way. York took the final three sets 25-10, 25-22, 25-23 to defeat the Blue Jays 3-1.

York will travel to Gering and take on the Bulldogs in the District B-8 final.

Seward will host Lincoln Pius X in the District B-5 final, while No.1-ranked Norris will host Scottsbluff in the District B-1 final.

No. 3 Waverly will take on Omaha Duchesne Academy in the District B-3 final.

No. 1 Lincoln Lutheran will host North Platte St. Patrick’s in the C2-1 District final.

All district final games will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. central.
