Seward stays undefeated through second round of playoffs

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) – The Seward Bluejays won 28-21 Friday night in another close game against a much-improved Gretna East.

A little rain didn’t hinder this game from being action-packed from start to finish.

Gretna East was moving the ball with ease on the first drive of the game, until a long completed pass turned into a fumble recovered by Seward.

And Seward didn’t squander the opportunity, either, dropping a dime in the arms of Lathan Janousek for the first touchdown of the game.

But Gretna East wasn’t deterred.

Connor Sams ran nearly 100 yards with only 50 yards worth of field in front of him, zigging and zagging from one side of the field to the other, only to be pushed out at the 1-yard line.

Gretna East punched it into the end zone a couple plays later, tying things up at 7.

The game was very back-and-forth: big pass plays, sacks, touchdowns, you name it.

Both teams knew everything was on the line tonight.

Eventually, Seward came out the victor and will be advancing to the semifinals.

Next week, the undefeated Bluejays will be taking on one-loss Omaha Skutt Catholic.
