E. coli found in southwest Nebraska village’s water

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A village in southwest Nebraska is under boil water order.
The Village of Culbertson issued the order on Thursday after E. coli was found in the water supply.
Residents should boil water for one minute before drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes and cooking.
Bottled water, which is available at the village office, can also be used.
The village said E. coli can get into the water when there is increased runoff. It can also happen when a pipe breaks.
Culbertson’s water system will be chlorinated.
The water will be tested again on Monday.
