LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are investigating a string of attempted ATM thefts across Lincoln over the weekend.

The first attempted theft was reported Saturday just before 11 p.m.

Officers were sent to Cornhusker Bank near 34th Street and Old Cheney Road after a burglary alarm was set off, according to police.

Surveillance video showed a silver Toyota minivan in the drive-through around 10 p.m.

The driver — who was wearing a white hat, white mask and silver puffy coat — looked at the ATM before driving off, police said.

About 45 minutes later, two people walked up to the ATM and used a key to open the hatch, according to LPD.  No money was taken.

At around 11:30 p.m., officers were sent to another Cornhusker Bank location, this time near 84th and O streets, on a report of an attempted burglary.

Surveillance video showed a man being dropped off by a silver or gray van on Russwood Parkway before approaching the ATM.

The man tried using a key to open the ATM door in the drive-through, but no money was taken, police said.

On Sunday around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a glass break alarm at U Pull It near North 70th Street and Fletcher Avenue.

Police said the glass sliding door had been broken, and officers found a blue tow strap wrapped around an ATM near the door.

Security video showed that a person tied the tow strap around the ATM.  But as the truck drove off, the tow strap snapped.  Once again, no money was taken.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
