Police investigating north Omaha homicide that sends four others to hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Omaha Police Department is investigating a Sunday morning homicide that sent four others to local hospitals.

Officers were sent to the area of 24th and Binney streets just after 3 a.m. on reports of multiple gun shots.

When officers arrived, they found a crowd and two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, OPD said in a press release.

One victim, 37-year-old Brandon Jones, was given CPR on scene by officers and then taken to Nebraska Medicine by the Omaha Fire Department. Jones later died at the hospital, OPD said.

A second victim at the scene, 32-year-old Cameron Brown, was also taken to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries, according to OPD.

Three more victims were taken to the Creighton University Medical Center by private vehicles, OPD said.

Derrick Bothwell, 48, Robert Johnson, 55, and Phillip Gaines, 57, were then taken to CHI Bergan Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to OPD.
