‘It’s a fantastic time’: Pool players cue up a huge tournament in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hundreds of competitors got together on Saturday to play pool in a tournament at the Sandhills Global Event Center.
People are competing for a spot in the finals of the 21st annual Great Plains 8-ball Shootout.
Around 500 players entered the tournament this year.
Rusty Caudell, one of the event organizers, said people are starting to gain interest in the game.
He said he’s been playing pool for decades now and it’s exciting to see how the game is growing.
“People just getting the opportunity to experience it,” he said. “It really leads into a great hobby and a great career sometimes. It’s a fantastic time. You see the same people year after year in different cities and you really build a friendship and camaraderie with them.”
The finals start at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at the Sandhills Global Event Center.
