‘Our hero’: Fallen trooper’s cruiser in Omaha adorned with flowers, stuffed animals
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The cruiser of a fallen Nebraska State Patrol trooper has been adorned with a slew of flowers and stuffed animals.
In a post Friday on X, the patrol shared photos of Trooper Kyle McAcy’s cruiser, which is parked at NSP’s Omaha headquarters.
McAcy, 31, was killed Monday when he was hit by a snowplow while responding to a crash on Interstate 80 near Ashland.
Since then, people have been pouring out their support for McAcy’s friends and family.
“Thank you, Nebraska! The way you have responded this week to honor our hero, Trooper Kyle McAcy #302, is truly moving,” the patrol said in the social media post.

McAcy’s funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Feb. 27 at Liberty First Credit Union Arena in Ralston.
Gov. Jim Pillen has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on the day of the funeral.
The Nebraska Troopers Charity has set up a fund in Kyle’s honor.
