One in critical condition after chase on Highway 77 south of Lincoln ends in crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Two people were injured Friday night in a crash on Highway 77 south of Lincoln.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. at the intersection with Hickman Road during a law enforcement pursuit.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a Chevy Malibu was swerving as it drove north on Highway 77 near Princeton.

A trooper tried to pull it over, but the patrol said the driver refused to stop.

A chase began, and less than two minutes later, authorities said the Malibu crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a Ram pickup truck.

The driver of the Malibu was flown to Bryan West Medical Center in critical condition.

The pickup driver was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Southbound Highway 77 is closed from Highway 33 to Hickman Road.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the crash investigation.
