Grass fire burns near Highway 281 in central Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Wheeler County Sheriff’s Office on Monday reported a grass fire in central Nebraska.

Around 4 p.m., the fire was burning near Highway 281, just north of Bartlett.

The Boyd County Sheriff’s Office later said the fire jumped to the other side of the highway.

Authorities asked for drivers to not go north of Bartlett and for people to avoid the area.

Channel 8 is trying to contact the emergency management agency for more information on how the fire started and the damage it has caused.
