Crews respond to grass fire in south Lincoln for second time in as many days

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Crews battled a grass fire for the second time in as many days near the train tracks in south Lincoln.

Around 3 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to a property on the west side of the train tracks near 14th Street and Yankee Hill Road for a grass fire.

A video sent to our NOW Local News App shows smoke from the fire surging from the tree line.

LRF was called to the same area on Sunday for a grass fire.

Officials with LFR are unsure what caused the fire on Sunday and whether today was a rekindle of the previous fire.

LFR said Monday’s fire burned a 100-by-50-foot patch of trees, but crews were cautious with the wind and dry conditions, ensuring they don’t have to go back.
