Athlete of the Week: Norris’ Barret Boesiger

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – This week’s athlete of the week goes to a student that was the talk of the town, and even getting recognized nationwide.

We’re talking about Norris’s Barret Boesiger, who sent the titans to the next round in the state tournament with an unbelievable buzzer beater.

With the game tied at 49, and less than a second left on the game clock, Norris’ senior stole the pass from Lincoln Pius X, and heaved it 3/4’s of the court’s length and drained it.

It was Boesiger’s only points of the game, but it was all the Titans needed.

“My initial thought was just throw it up, we’re probably going to overtime. As it was going towards the basket, I saw it was looking pretty good,” said Boesiger.

Barret’s buzzer beater even caught the attention of ESPN, being featured on Thursday night’s SportsCenter’s Top 10. It was the #1 play, and the #3 play of the week.

The Titans season ended the next night in the Class B semifinals vs. Skutt Catholic.

While it wasn’t how Norris would have hoped to end their season, it’s a moment that all of Norris, and the state of Nebraska will remember for a lifetime.
