WATCH: 500-gallon propane tank explodes during fire in Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Norfolk Fire and Rescue Department shared video Monday of a 500-gallon propane tank exploding during a fire in in northeast Nebraska.
In a Facebook post, the department used this video as a warning, showing the danger of fires near propane tanks.
When crews arrived at the scene, they heard what they believed to be a pressure relief from a propane tank.
Crews stopped short of the fire and captured the video of the explosion.
Afterward, firefighters were able to approach the scene and extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported to civilians or first responders.
“Our main hope is and always will be that none of you ever have to experience something like this. However, if you do, please know how important the information you give to dispatch is. If you have building or vehicle on fire and propane tanks are nearby that is critical information to relay,” the department said.
