Former Lincoln teacher arrested in Beattie Elementary child abuse investigation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Lincoln teacher was arrested Tuesday after a child abuse investigation.

Hilary Everett, 43, was booked in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of child abuse.

On Feb. 26, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services received a report of child abuse occurring at Beattie Elementary School.

DHHS notified the Lincoln Police Department, which launched an investigation.

LPD said there are three victims: a 5-year-old, a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old. Police said two of the students are non-verbal.

Everett is accused of putting hand sanitizer in the children’s mouths, putting bleach water on their hands, guiding a child by squeezing his ear and slapping a child in the back of the head.

The abuse had been going on since at least December, according to police.
