Spring in full swing this week

This last week of March is also the first full week of spring. And it will feel like it, too!

This week is also Severe Weather Awareness Week in Nebraska, and we’ll be talking about various topics each day of this week. Monday’s topic is lightning safety, with more found here.

Severe Wx Awareness Week Monday

The wind from the weekend has left us finally. We start with a stillness to the day that lasts throughout Monday.

Lincoln Today Wind Speed

Partly sunny to mostly cloudy conditions on Monday will limit heating some, but forecasted high temperatures will still be up around the upper 60s today and above average.

Lincoln Today Hour By Hour

Temperatures will be up around 70 if not 80 degrees this week – especially by the end. That will also be the time we have better chances for rain and thunderstorms.

Week Ahead

Scattered showers will be possible first by Thursday, before storms start to look more likely by Saturday.

Day 6 Spc

We’ll be eyeing potential for severe weather by Saturday, March 29th, with the Storm Prediction Center including far southeast Nebraska already in a “Day 6” outlook for possible severe weather (above).

For now, all severe weather hazards look possible with that central Plains setup.

Qpf Model Comparison

Long-range models as of Monday morning were hinting at maybe up to a half inch of rain to be seen over the next 7 days (particularly toward the end of those 7 days).
