LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – LFR crews extinguished a blaze early Thursday morning at a home in northeast Lincoln.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to the fire near North 44th and Adams streets around 2:50 a.m.

The fire was called in after a neighbor reported seeing flames coming from a window, LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said.

The homeowner was able to evacuate safely with a dog.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke when they arrived at the scene.  The flames have since been put out.

Lierman said the fire was caused by the spontaneous combustion of materials used for remaking and reloading gun shells.

The house is considered a total loss, with about $177,000 in damage.
