Man arrested after stealing items from several cars in Kearney, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested overnight after police say he stole several items from unlocked vehicles in Kearney.
The Kearney Police Department arrested the man following a short foot chase near 15th Street and Central Avenue.
According to police, the man had several items believed to be stolen from vehicles in the area.
Around the same time, officers responded to gunshots near 11th Street and B Avenue.
Evidence at the scene indicates several rounds were fired and may be related to the thefts, according to the police department.
Authorities are asking anyone who lives in that area to check their cars and report any thefts to KPD.
