Showers, thunderstorms likely Wednesday evening into Thursday

Although there will be a lot of dry time on Wednesday, we start a period of daily chances for rain through early next week.

Most of Wednesday will be mild until rain and thunderstorm chances increase toward the evening commute.

Rain chances start to bump up toward almost 5 p.m. Wednesday, with decent chances through Thursday morning as well.

Precipitation Probability

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will expand across southeastern Nebraska then eventually eastern Nebraska by Wednesday evening and night.

Most of the stronger activity toward midnight should be down around the Kansas border before more rain pushes in Thursday morning.

The good news besides rain is that the threat of severe weather remains rather low for Wednesday and Thursday!

Wednesday has a Marginal to Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for severe weather with a slightly higher chance for gusty winds and some hail for areas of southeast and south-central Nebraska Wednesday evening and night. The Slight (yellow) risk was just introduced with an 8 a.m. update by the Storm Prediction Center.

With this initial round, we’re looking at scattered rain amounts adding up to about 0.10-0.25″, with more south. Rain will continue to add up beyond this though, the rest of Thursday morning (beyond 7 a.m.) and late Thursday night.

Dma Precipitation Any Model

Again, there will be plenty of chances for a lot more rain through the weekend and even early next week before May begins!

Precip Chances

By Monday (April 28, 2025), there continues to be a strong signal for possible severe weather across eastern Nebraska.

That setup for now still would support all severe weather modes. This is your “heads up” until we hammer out more details as we get closer.
