We also turn to more storm chances as the weather pattern starts to change in favor of rain chances and the threat for severe weather across Nebraska.

For Wednesday night, a Marginal to Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk covers much of central and northern Nebraska in anticipation of stronger storms possible beyond 5 p.m. this evening into the overnight hours.

1130 Spc

There is potential for some brief, isolated spin-up tornadoes with these storms, especially with now a 5 percent chance of a tornado within 25 miles of a point in the brown shaded region below. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but this probability was increased slightly for this area as of 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Tor Threat 1130

The confidence in the hail threat has increased: hail up to 2″ in diameter will be possible tonight for the area covered by black hash marks below.

Hail 1130

Damaging wind will also be a main threat (60-70 mph) with storms tonight especially across northern Nebraska as storms look to come together and bow out into the night.

Wind 1130

Stormcast below shows the timing of these storms Wednesday evening and Wednesday night.

Strong to severe storms will develop first back in the northern Sandhills and toward the North Platte area before coming together across north-central and northeast Nebraska tonight into very early Thursday morning.

Most of these storms are expected to clear southeast Nebraska altogether to the north, leaving us mostly dry into the weekend.

3day Lincoln Forecast With Hourlies

We will be closer to 80 and more seasonable with the wind picking up on Thursday.
