17-year-old boy dies in forklift accident in southwest Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 17-year-old boy was killed in a forklift accident in southwest Nebraska.
On May 8, the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office was sent to Road 749 in rural Maywood on the report that the teenager was trapped under a piece of equipment.
Frontier County Ambulance, the Maywood Fire Department and the Curtis Fire Department were also called to the scene.
When emergency crews arrived, 17-year-old Steven Gingerich was found trapped underneath a forklift.
According to Sheriff Michael Jordan, Gingerich was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Gingerich was driving the forklift down Road 749 when he lost control, leaving the road and rolling down an embarkment.
“The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office wants to express our greatest sympathy to the family and their community during this time of loss,” Jordan said.
