Owner of Ceresco’s Legendary Red Rooster Restaurant is ready to pass the apron

CERESCO, Neb. (KLKN) — The Legendary Red Rooster Restaurant is looking for a new owner.

The owner, Ron Tegtmeier, said he’s ready to slow down after years of service to the community.

From free bikes to Easter egg hunts to major donations for local causes, the Red Rooster has been more than a place to eat.

While the restaurant is still profitable, Tegtmeier said with an upcoming knee surgery, it’s time to pass the torch, but only to someone with the right heart for the job.

“My biggest hope for the restaurant while I’m recovering is that everyone comes in and takes care of my employees because that’s my blood.” said Tegtmeier, also known as Uncle Ron. “I want everyone to come and support the restaurant while I’m gone, so that my employees can continue to make money and have a good life.”

He said that the community is forever in his heart and that God has given more opportunities than he could imagine.

Tegtmeier said he’s just blessed to have the capability to make a difference, and as small as Ceresco is, he will always feel at home.

The people of Ceresco said Tegtmeier has no idea what he means to the community.

“I would just tell Ron, ‘Thank you so much for your hospitality, your talent and your gift of having people come together for a meal,'” longtime Ceresco resident Jessica Kaiser said. “Thank you for taking a leap on Ceresco, and it’s been so wonderful getting to know you, and you’ll always be part of the Ceresco family.”
