Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola named to Maxwell Award watch list

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — As the Nebraska football team kicked off summer camp Monday, sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola was added to an impressive preseason watch list.
Raiola was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is given to the College Player of the Year at the end of the regular season.
The Buford, Georgia, native will look to join Mike Rozier as the only Huskers to win the Maxwell Award.
Raiola returns this season after putting together a record-setting freshman season as he led the Huskers to their first bowl game since 2016.
He was a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Year Award, setting school freshman records in passing yards (2,819) and completion percentage (67.1%).
Raiola led all freshmen nationally in completion percentage and was third in yards.
On the season, he completed 275 of 410 passes for 13 touchdowns.
Raiola capped his season by becoming the first true freshman quarterback to lead Nebraska to a bowl victory.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on Nov. 11, while the three finalists for the award will be unveiled on Nov. 25.
The winner of the 89th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 11.
