Cooler weekend with storms Saturday into Sunday

Showers and a few rumbles of thunder will continue to linger through the morning hours in the Capital City following a strong round of storms that passed through during the early morning hours.

Friday night into early Saturday morning, there is a level 1 MARGINAL risk for severe weather across the state. A level 2 SLIGHT risk in far northwest Nebraska. The main concerns with these storms will be gusty winds and small hail within the strongest cells. Showers and thunderstorms will linger into early Saturday afternoon.

FRIDAY NIGHT- SATURDAY MORNING:

StormCast shows showers and thunderstorms developing in SW Nebraska late Friday night. This activity will become more widespread by 3AM Saturday. These storms will track ENE through Saturday morning with storms near Lincoln close to 4AM- 7AM. Saturday afternoon, some sunshine will come out before our next round of storms Saturday night.

 

Saturday night, there is a level 1 MARGINAL risk for severe weather in parts of SE and SW Nebraska. The main concerns will be gusty winds, small hail and heavy rainfall leading to potential flooding in areas.

SATURDAY NIGHT- SUNDAY MORNING:

Saturday night, strong to severe storms look to develop north of I-80 near 6-8PM. These storms will sit over Omaha for an hour before moving south as the front will stall out. By 9PM- midnight Saturday, storms will enter Lincoln with gusty winds, small hail and heavy rainfall. Showers and storms will be out by 7AM Sunday morning.

Tonight, temperatures will be a bit cooler out west and a bit warmer in the east. Temperatures in the 60s and 70s for all of us.

Saturday, high temperatures will feel cooler across the state. The front will likely stall in SE Nebraska Saturday afternoon and evening. Morning showers and cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler throughout the afternoon.

Showers and storms Saturday morning and Saturday night. Storms will linger into Sunday morning with temperatures warming back up just in time for school!
