WATCH: Multiple rounds fired in Lincoln drive-by shooting; police seek info
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A suspect is still on the loose more than a month after a drive-by shooting in a southwest Lincoln neighborhood.
On Wednesday, Lincoln Crime Stoppers asked for the public’s help.
In the early morning hours on July 7, gunshots rang through the West A neighborhood.
A light-colored car drove down West Washington Street between Eighth and Ninth streets, and the driver fired several shots.
“Surveillance video found that this car shot six times out the window,” said Jared Minary, a forensic video analyst for the Lincoln Police Department. “It’s a big concern for the area on Southwest Eighth Street and West A Street. So if you have any information on that, we would like information on the car and the driver.”
The LPD crime map shows crime is relatively rare in the neighborhood.
Only one offense was reported in a half-mile radius of Southwest Eighth and West A within the past week.
And only 10 crimes were reported within the last month.
Neighbors told Channel 8 they feel safe within their neighborhood despite the shooting.
Most of them said they’ve placed the shooting in the back of their minds and know Lincoln is still a safe place to live.
They said they hope the driver is caught.
Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or know who was involved in the shooting is urged to call Crimestoppers at 402-475-3600.
