Summertime Heat Continues, Sunday Evening Storm Chances
Forecast:
Summer time heat continued on Saturday with high temperatures in the mid-90s across the state. A few cities in southwest Nebraska even cracked 100 degrees.
Low temperatures this evening will stay warm in the mid-to-upper 70s. Partly cloudy skies tonight with a strong southerly breeze.
In Lincoln, we will fall to the upper 70s with partly cloudy skies. Strong southerly winds between 10 and 15 miles per hour, gusting to 20.
High temperatures tomorrow will be a few degrees above average in the lower and middle 90s. Southerly winds continued to bring heat and humidity across southeast Nebraska.
Another day in the mid-90s ahead for the Capital City. The heat index could reach the triple digits once again with mostly sunny skies. Winds gusting tomorrow up to 20 miles per hour before storm chances return tomorrow night.
There is a MARGINAL RISK (Level 1 out of 5) for severe weather for much of the state. Storms will be possible late Sunday night and into early Monday morning, with large hail and damaging winds being the main concern.
Stormcast currently shows storms firing tomorrow afternoon and early evening before a line of storms reaches the Capital City in the early morning hours on Monday.
A few warmer days are ahead in the lower and middle 90s with chances for showers and thunderstorms. Our next big cool down comes Wednesday with a passing cold front, returning us to near average in the mid-to-upper 80s. Mostly sunny skies close out next week and into next weekend.
