Lake McConaughy drowning victim is identified

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The body of a man found in Lake McConaughy has been identified.

On Thursday, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission said 38-year-old Armando Marroquin of Houston drowned in the lake.

“Our thoughts are with Armando’s relatives at this time,” Travis Shepler, Game and Parks’ assistant law enforcement administrator, said in a press release. “It is always tragic to lose a life on the water.”

On Sunday night, conservation officers received a report of an empty, overturned kayak near the Lemoyne Bay boat ramp.

The next day, a dive team found Marroquin’s body.

Game and Parks urged boaters, kayakers and paddleboarders to always where a life jacket when on the water.
