LPD investigating deadly motorcycle crash in north Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash Saturday evening in north Lincoln.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. near North 48th Street and Leighton Avenue.
LPD said a Chevy Traverse was pulling out of a business to go left on North 48th Street when it hit a northbound motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old Lincoln man, was not wearing a helmet, according to police.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
The driver of the SUV, who was not injured, is being “voluntarily evaluated” by an LPD drug recognition expert, despite not showing any signs of impairment at the scene, LPD said.
Police noted that charges are pending the outcome of that evaluation and the investigation.
