Mostly cloudy, slightly cooler than seasonal temperatures into Labor Day weekend
As we get closer to the longer weekend and Labor Day, temperatures aren’t anticipated to waver all that much. Wednesday’s high temperatures will be right around 80° again, and the rest of the week looks much the same.
One difference that sticks out about Wednesday’s forecast is that we finally have some wind to talk about.
It won’t be very gusty, but a southerly breeze will increase toward the later morning hours and into the afternoon with gusts up to 20-25 mph possible.
Seasonal temperatures at this point in August are usually in the middle 80s, so we will be slightly cooler than that even by Friday.
Traveling down to Kansas City, game day on Thursday will start with some scattered showers and storms in the area early. Stormcast below takes you from Lincoln to Kansas City Wednesday night into early Thursday, with timing of conditions late into Thursday night.
Heading into the noon hour and the early afternoon, that rain should be on its way out for plenty of dry tailgating conditions.
Kansas City will be dry and very comfortable by kickoff of the Huskers’ season opener against Cincinnati. Temperatures will slowly drop through the 60s from halftime to the end of the game. Couldn’t ask for better late August weather for this one!
Rain chances back home will increase by the later part of Labor Day weekend, namely for Sunday and early Monday.
We’ll continue to track those chances and post more details as we get closer.
