Runner who died after south Lincoln crash is identified

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police on Tuesday identified the pedestrian killed in a weekend crash.

The victim was 37-year-old Anthony Miller of Omaha.

The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday at 27th Street and Barnard Road, just south of Rokeby Road.

Miller was running south on 27th when a southbound vehicle hit him, according to a Lincoln Police Department crash report.

Police said the driver moved to avoid a woman who was running on the side of the road and ended up hitting Miller, who was running in the middle of the road.

The driver saw Miller in his driver’s side headlight but could not stop in time, according to the crash report.

LPD said the driver tried to perform lifesaving measures on Miller.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

No tickets have been issued.
