Rockets take off to another 2-0 start, stomp Omaha Bryan in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Northeast football team cruised past Omaha Bryan on Friday, beating the Bears 42-0 at Beechner Stadium.
The Rockets start their season 2-0 for the second-straight season, building up confidence for some tough games down the stretch.
Both teams got off to a shaky start, turning the ball over and struggling to get any rhythm on offense.
But that all changed in the second quarter, thanks to a 20-yard touchdown pass from Grant Matson to Quincy Montoya.
The Rockets proceeded to score 35 points in the second quarter to build a commanding lead.
Lincoln Northeast’s defense held the Bears to 17 yards through the air and only 104 yards total.
Specials teams also made an appearance from the Rockets.
Two pooch kicks were muffed by the Bears and recovered by Lincoln Northeast, helping the Rockets’ scoring outburst in the second quarter.
The Rockets will head to Omaha to take on the Bunnies from Benson on Friday.
