LFR puts out fire at southeast Lincoln store

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a blaze at a southeast Lincoln store on Sunday.

The fire was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore near 56th Street and Nebraska Parkway.

A video posted on the NOW Local News App shows black smoke rising from the scene.

LFR Battalion Chief Bob Watton said it started as a dumpster fire.

The flames spread to the outside of the building and also slightly inside, he said.

Crews contained the fire within about 10 minutes, according to LFR, and no one was injured.

Watton said there was a lot of smoke and smoke damage inside the building.

The damage amount is estimated at $200,000 total: $25,000 to the building and $175,000 to the contents.

LFR said the exact cause of the fire is undetermined, but it does not appear suspicious.
