LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — History made in high school baseball.

The first ever team from Lincoln won the American Legion World Series on Tuesday.

Carpet Land Post 500 knocked off Portland (Oregon) Post 158, 9-6, in the championship. Carpet Land is a team mainly made up of players from Lincoln East High School.

Cade Anderson’s three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning put Carpet Land up for good.

The ALWS championship is the first for the Lincoln program, and just the second title in the series’ 99 years for the state of Nebraska. Omaha Post 1 won the 1939 American Legion World Series.

Carpet Land finished the season 55-7 overall.
