Pillen approves limits on number of marijuana plants cultivators can grow in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen is approving the adoption of new emergency regulations with limits on the production of cannabis.
In a press release on Thursday, the governor’s office said Pillen signed the regulations that limit each cultivator to possessing no more than 1,250 flowering plants.
Those regulations were signed by Pillen on Tuesday.
Earlier this week, the Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission held an emergency meeting to discuss those limits.
According to the governor’s office, Pillen had asked the commission to consider a limitation to “ensure that an excess of cannabis production would not lead to an unregulated and unintended black-market supply.”
In June, the commission adopted the initial emergency regulations for the state’s medical marijuana system.
The 19-page document released by the commission barred patients or caregivers from having more than 5 ounces of cannabis.
The regulations also allowed certain products — like oral tablets and suppositories — to be sold at dispensaries.
