Nebraska inmate dies while being treated at Lincoln hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reported an inmate death on Monday.

Malin Choneska, an inmate at the Reception and Treatment Center, died Friday at a Lincoln hospital. He was 47.

Choneska was serving a sentence of up to one year for third-offense aggravated DUI in Douglas County.

His cause of death has not been determined, but officials said he was being treated for a medical condition.

As required by state law, a grand jury will investigate his death.
