Police identify woman shot and killed at Columbus home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police have identified the woman who was shot and killed Tuesday at a home in Columbus.

Around 8:35 p.m., officers found 25-year-old Kennedi Demuth with a gunshot wound to her head at a home near Seventh Street

She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

Officers took 25-year-old Jack Reeg into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony and terroristic threats.

Interim Police Chief Bret Strecker said the department is committed to conducting a “thorough” investigation into the shooting.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time,” he said in a press release.

An investigation is ongoing.
