Four injured in three-vehicle crash in east Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Four people were injured on Saturday after a three-vehicle crash in east Lincoln.
Just before 7:30 p.m., several first responders were sent to the intersection of 45th and Vine streets.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, a 2022 Nissan Altima — driven by a 22-year-old man — was driving south on 45th Street with the green light at Vine Street.
A 2007 GMC Sierra — driven by a 28-year-old man — was driving west on Vine Street with a red light at 45th Street.
LPD said the two vehicles collided in the intersection, sending the pickup into the curb on the west side of Vine.
After the pickup hit the curb, LPD said it hit a parked 2004 Ford F-150 in the driveway of a nearby home.
LPD said the GMC also hit the back side of the house before coming to a stop.
Three witnesses on scene confirmed the GMC ran the red light at the intersection.
In a video sent to our NOW Local News App by a Channel 8 reporter, you can see heavy damage to the Nissan in the intersection.
LPD said the GMC had two young children — ages 6 and 8 — in the back seat without proper car seats during the collision.
The driver of the GMC was also not wearing his seatbelt and didn’t have insurance on the pickup.
LPD said the driver of the GMC and the two children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Nissan was also injured, but not taken to the hospital.
LPD cited and released the driver of the GMC for negligent driving, no insurance, failure to restrain a child and not wearing a seatbelt.
