Election Commissioner expects high voter turnout

The April primaries had a record turnout so Channel 8 Eyewitness News asked Election Commissioner, Dave Shively, if he expects the same for the Lincoln General Election.
“It’s looking pretty good because my projected number was 35%, 59,000 voters and our poll workers called us about 50 precincts at 9 a.m. and that seemed to be on track of what I projected so I have a really good feeling that there is going to be a good turnout today,” Shively said. “Of course I would love for it to be higher than 35% but we encourage voters to prove us wrong and get the percentage higher than 35.”
Shively thinks the general election will have a record turnout. He says the April primaries had 31% so that would be 4 percentages higher if everyone can get up to that.
