Waverly takes down Lincoln Pius X, ends regular season undefeated
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Waverly Vikings conquered the Lincoln Pius X Thunderbolts on Friday.
The Vikings end the regular season undefeated with the 22-7 victory.
Despite the chill in the air, the Thunderbolts got a hot start on the first drive of the game.
Charlie Morrow made a big catch, and he flew down the field, but he was tackled right before he could score.
Rylan Doering carried it into the end zone. The Thunderbolts struck first.
But the Vikings fought back, and Nathan Axmann ran through traffic to take it to the house.
Waverly’s defense kicked it up a notch in the second quarter.
Tyson Heine got a sack, and the Vikings recovered a fumble.
Waverly missed a field goal at the end of the first half, but they held the Thunderbolts to 7 points.
Pius X falls to 4-5 on the season.
