Authorities identify man killed in east Lincoln crash; witnesses report reckless driver, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department identified the person killed in Wednesday’s fatal crash as 75-year-old Donald Wilson of Lincoln.

Just after 12:30 p.m., several first responders were called to the intersection of 70th and L streets for a two-vehicle crash.

According to investigators, a 2020 black Nissan Kicks — driven by Wilson — was headed north on 70th when it turned left onto L and collided with a 2021 gray Ford Explorer driving south on 70th.

Witnesses on scene told LPD the Explorer was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the collision.

Wilson died at the hospital, and his passenger — a 74-year-old Lincoln woman — was treated at the hospital for serious injuries.

The driver of the Explorer, a 24-year-old Lincoln man, was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

LPD is still investigating the crash.
