LPD: Omaha man not expected to survive following weekend shooting in northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that happened in northwest Lincoln over the weekend.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, police were called to an apartment complex near Ninth Street and Belmont Avenue on the report of a shooting.


According to LPD, there was a series of altercations between two family members throughout the day that led to the shooting.

When officers arrived on the scene, they started CPR on a 29-year-old Omaha man with a single gunshot wound.

According to LPD, he is currently in the hospital on life support and is not expected to survive.

LPD said they are working to determine if the 34-year-old Lincoln man, also inside the apartment, was acting in self-defense.

He cooperated with law enforcement at the scene and during a follow-up interview, and a firearm was recovered, LPD said.
