LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was taken into custody Tuesday after an hours-long standoff at a home in south Lincoln, police say.

At around 11 a.m., officers responded to a weapons violation near 17th and Cheyenne streets.

Police said the caller reported her ex, later identified as 47-year-old Daniel Brenneise, was inside their home with a gun and was intoxicated.

The victim was inside when Brenneise grabbed the gun and started “waving it around,” LPD said.  He also pointed the gun at her and made “verbal threats.”

She left the home and called 911.

Officers arrived at the home, and police said it took “several hours to make safe entry” inside.

The SWAT team was activated, and they executed a search warrant, which led to the arrest of Brenneise.

He was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.  Officers found a revolver in the kitchen.
