10th Annual Workers’ Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil

Dozens of people filled the capitol steps for a vigil to remember our fallen workers.

Sunday was the ’10th Annual Workers’ Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil.’

It’s a day where the community comes together to honor the men and women who have been injured or killed in a work related incident.

Marcella is one of the many people who have lost a loved one at work. She drove from Omaha to keep her fiance’s memory alive.

“People shouldn’t die pursuing the American dream, they should be able to be safe and go home to their families every night,” Marcella Schwartz said.

In the United States, there are 12 to 14 families that will receive a call that their loved one was killed in a work related incident and thousands that are injured each year.
