Severe Storms & Winter Weather Friday Afternoon

Large hail up to limes & tennis balls will be possible with the first storms that develop near 2:30-4pm. These single cells along the front will carry the large hail, damaging wind an isolated tornado threat. The red and hashed marks mean larger hail up to tennis balls.

2–4 PM: Strong severe storms develop near Red Cloud, Hebron & Beatrice. Large hail threat begins as it moves towards Lincoln.
-Lime size hail, gusty winds & an isolated tornado are all possible starting at this time.

An isolated tornado threat will occur across far SE Nebraska starting near 3-5pm & diminishing by 9pm. A few brief to strong rotations will be possible near Auburn, Pawnee & Nebraska City near 6-8pm.  A strong tornado is possible in the areas you see the black hash marks.

4-8PM: Severe storms PEAK in SE Nebraska. These storms will LIKELY have large hail & strong winds.

Friday, a level 2 SLIGHT & level 3 ENHANCED risk is in place for far SE Nebraska. This will be due to the first initial storms Friday afternoon & evening along the frontal boundary. These storms have potential to produce hail up to lime size, a few brief rotations & winds up to 65+ mph. TIMING: 2:00PM-11:00PM.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in place through Saturday 11am-noon. Mixed precipitation and a lioght glaze of ice will make travels dangerous.

This afternoon & evening brings strong & severe storms across SE Nebraska. Main threats are hail up to lime size, a few brief rotations & winds up to 65+ mph. TIMING: 2:00PM-11:00PM. This weekend looks wonderful! A bit breezy, but warm and sunny. Next week, we start warm near 80 degrees before a small system could bring rain chances and slightly cooler air.
