One killed in Morrill County wildfire, authorities confirm

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was killed as a result of a wildfire in western Nebraska, authorities confirmed on Friday.
According to the Arthur County Sheriff’s Office, one person was killed in the wildfire in Morrill County.
The fire — which is north of Nebraska Highway 92, between Crescent Lake National Wildlife Refuge and Lake McConaughy — has burned an estimated 340,000 acres.
Authorities said the blaze sparked on Thursday and is still 0% contained.
The name of the person killed is being withheld pending an investigation and notification of next of kin.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of all who have been impacted by this devastating wildfire,” the sheriff’s office said in the press release.
