Midday Interview: Southview Baptist Church Easter Performance
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Southview Baptist Church in Lincoln is set to put on it’s annual Easter performance.
It’s called “This Day of Resurrection” and the first show will be this Wednesday, March 25.
The director of the performance joined Channel 8 News at midday to discuss the show.

Southview Baptist Church’s traditional Easter reenactment “This Day of Resurrection” is returning to the stage for its 32nd year.
The lavishly costumed musical drama portrays the life of Jesus from birth to death and resurrection in about an hour. It helps attendees understand why Easter is important to Christians throughout the world, and it has become an annual tradition for many families in the Lincoln area.

When: Palm Sunday week and weekend
- Wednesday, March 25, 7 p.m.
- Friday, March 27, 7 p.m.
- Saturday, March 28, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Sunday, March 29, 3 p.m.
Highlights of the musical drama
- Live animals include chickens, quail, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, baby lambs, donkey and fainting goats. Children may pet the animals after the performance.
- Special effects (lavish costumes, lightning, thunder, earthquake).
- Powerful music: singing and instrumentals.
- The audience becomes a part of the drama, travelling back to Biblical times, with action occurring in the aisles and on the stage.
- Nearly 200 church members and friends participate in the reenactment, or in behind-the-scenes support.
The drama was started by Sylvana Airan, a Pakistani immigrant, who wrote and directs the reenactment. She is available for interviews.
Admission: Free (This is our church’s gift to the community. We do not request donations.)
Childcare: Due to action, loud noises, and realistic scenes, this program is recommended for age 7 and older. Childcare is not provided. A family room is available.
Fellowship: Refreshments are served after evening performances. Participants may pet the animals and meet the cast.
