Haunted House in northeast Lincoln raises money for Alzheimer’s Association

If you’re looking for some tricks, or some treats look no further.

The Davies home at 2240 Dorothy Drive in northeast Lincoln has plenty of both and it’s raising money for Alzheimer’s research.

“I think it’s the worst, I don’t know if there’s anything worse for someone to get than Alzheimer’s. You can deal with pain and you can deal with some other things, but the person is just gone. It’s so sad,” said Joel Davies.

Joel and his family have been hosting the haunted house for more than a decade.

After his father–in–law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease three years ago the family turned the annual haunting into a fundraiser, dubbed Creepin’ For a Cure, raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

In three years they’ve raised more than $7,000 dollars.

But just how scary is this haunted house?

“There’s a few who shed some tears and get really scared, but I don’t think there’s any way to avoid it,” said Davies.

Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter Rachael Miner went through the haunted house before it opened and said this, “My favorite part is this. It’s a clown that drops down and makes noise and I would definitely scream.”

Whether you come through to be scared or for fun Joel says the best part is knowing they’re making a difference for Alzheimer’s research.

“We made a lot of people happy, we some money for the Alzheimer’s Association and I think that’s the most satisfying time.”
