Windy Wednesday Before Storms Thursday
A WINDY & warm Wednesday across Nebraska! Winds will stay less than 10 mph! Wind speeds 15-25 mph with gusts to near 35-45 mph! Highs will reach the 80s & 90s.
This evening, a few isolated storms will develop out west. Isolated T-storms out west could produce lightning, which will PEAK the fire danger. Main threats with any storm would be lightning, small hail & damaging winds.
Thursday: Large hail up to golf balls or greater will be a main concern with the first initial storms near 2-4pm.
Thursday (2-4pm) Isolated storms try & initiate near G.I & eastward Thursday afternoon. These storms will carry the LARGE HAIL threat.
Model comparison: Model 1 shows storms developing farther west near 2-4pm Thursday. This will be the best chance for storms in and around Lincoln.
Model 2 shows a faster path, meaning less chance for storms in Lincoln. Thursday morning will be the window to see the most accurate model trends and atmospheric factors.
Thursday (5-8pm) The PEAK severe storms will occur from Lincoln->Iowa. This line of storms will carry a QLCS Tornado threat, LARGE HAIL & DAMAGING WINDS. Storms will quickly move W->E. Keep an eye on the latest updates for any shifts W or E with storms.
A 5% hatched tornado threat is in place Thursday evening. A few brief tornadoes will be possible within the line of storms in SE Nebraska near 5-8pm.
Wednesday will be a warm & windy one with storm chances out west near 3-9pm. Thursday will be mostly/partly sunny & warm. This means more time for the atmosphere to destabilize for rain/storm chances by 2pm ahead of the cold front. Saturday looks dry for much of the morning, before increasing rain/storm chances Saturday afternoon & especially Sunday afternoon. Next week looks cooler than average with small precipitation chances late week.
